21st Birthday in London

So, on Tuesday I finally turned 21! We booked a gorgeous Airbnb apartment in London for a few days. I was completely blown away at just how pretty the apartment was - lots of future home inspiration. The main highlight of our stay was DEFINITELY the underfloor heating. Insanely jealous of anybody who lives with that on a daily basis.

Autumn - Gone in a Flash

Is it just me, or did Autumn just fly by this year? I take that back - the whole year has! It's December in just two weeks, and the panic of not yet having any Christmas shopping sorted is beginning to set in already. The John Lewis Christmas advert is out, (yes, I did shed a little tear) and my town's Christmas Market opens tomorrow. (Well worth a visit if you live locally!)

The 'Ultra' Perfect Cleansing Duo

I have been completely won over by both of these cleansers, and they work in perfect harmony to give me the cleanest face I think I've ever had, and the most effective double cleanse I've tried. I must admit it took me way too long to realise that these both have 'ultra' in their names!

What's On My Face

It's been a while, but let's move on..

Recently, (and thankfully) my skin has been getting clearer by the day, meaning I have more time to experiment with other areas of my makeup, rather than concentrating on getting my base perfect every morning.

As White As Snow

Fair-skinned, and find it difficult to find a foundation that matches your skin tone?
Stop what you're doing and continue reading!

Say hello to Illamasqua's Skin Base in 01. I no longer need to worry about leaving the house with a mismatched face/neck combo. It works perfectly well with every foundation I've tried it with so far, especially EsteƩ Lauder Double Wear (which I have been reaching for a lot lately, as my skin has taken another turn for the worst!)
I usually mix it on my hand, 1/6 or so with my usual, and find that it lightens it up a shade or two, and doesn't effect the consistency of my foundation either.

I've used a white 'mixer' foundation in the past, (Barry M - many years ago), but I found that it made my foundation almost mask-like, as it was such a thick cream. This one is so much better, I'm not sure how I managed without it!
I'd been meaning to get my hands on it for about a year, and I wish I hadn't waited so long. I will 100% be repurchasing this when it runs out, and am also keen to try it in some actual colours as well, as I'm really impressed with the quality.

The only foundation I don't feel the need to use it with, is NARS Siberia, as it's the only one I've found to be pale enough straight out of the bottle. However, with such a wide range of foundations in my makeup drawer, it feels like such a waste to turn my back on all of them. Thanks to this, I don't have to!

Have you ever given this foundation a go, or tried mixing your own colour match before?

2015

Last year was pretty uneventful, with most things feeling like they'd be held off until this year.  I felt quite overwhelmed for the most part, I began full time work last summer, which is probably why it feels like the months whizzed past so quickly. I finally feel as though I've found my feet once again.
2014 was the year of preparation, 2015 is the year of putting those preparations into practice, and doing

Already, 2015 has thrown a few surprises at me.

One of my best friends got engaged on New Year's Eve and
has asked me to be Maid of Honour at their wedding.

Ben now has a car of his own, which means I'll be doing less of my
midnight car journeys to pick him up from work,
and we'll be able to share the chore of driving between us.

I've just started a new medication, so my health has the potential
to improve greatly this year, I'm feeling very optimistic about that.

I feel as though I'm getting to grips with managing my finances well,
which means that moving out could finally become a real possibility.

There has been a discussion between friends about another group holiday,
and that's exactly what I need. I didn't take much time out to stop and
relax last year, and I don't want to make that mistake again.

My blog has taken the backseat once again recently, but the flurry of
'new year' blog posts has inspired me no end, and I'm feeling
very hopeful for the future of this little place.
I'm keen to make it a little more personal, and I have a re-design
planned for the near future.

We're over one week in already, but happy new year to you all!
