Instantly Glowing Skin with Bourjois

I've never used to be into the whole 'glowing, dewy' look, as I much preferred a matte base, with quite high coverage to disguise the less-than-desirable skin that laid beneath. But recently, since stepping up my skincare routine, and dramatically changing the look of my skin, I've been dabbling in a few lighter coverage foundations, and illuminating powders.. and you know what? I think I'm really liking them.

The first of this glowing duo is the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation. I put off buying this for such a long time, as when I swatched it on my hand in the shop, it looked just a tad too dark. However, eventually I caved, and I'm glad I did! As the coverage here isn't as full as I'm used to, the colour isn't so strong on my face. In fact, it's a pretty good match!
I would describe the coverage as medium, but very very buildable. I usually use the tiniest bit on the areas that don't need much coverage, such as my nose and forehead, and build it up a little bit more on my cheeks and chin. I find the finish is extremely natural looking, and not cakey in the slightest. You quite literally do glow! This is definitely one of the best foundations I've ever tried - and that's saying something, as I'm forever trying out different ones to find a good match for my skin.
I usually set this foundation with a tiny tiny sweep of powder, just to tone down the glow a little bit, although somedays I skip this step altogether.

Next up, we have the Bourjois Java Rice Powder.
I have to be quite honest here, one of the main reasons for me purchasing this powder is down to the packaging - it's simply beautiful! This product was Bourjois' very first bestseller, which they reintroduced, and reinvented last year for their 150th anniversary.
Now onto the contents... I've never experienced anything like it! It's a beautiful, pinky-toned loose finely milled powder in a very secure pot, allowing you to dispense as much as you need with each use. On your skin, the pinkiness disappears, and it creates a beautiful subtle glow. You can either use this product all over for a really illuminated look, or just use it as a highlighter for a much more subtle approach. I tend to mix between the two, depending on how I set my foundation. Did I mention that it smells absolutely gorgeous??!

Both of these products are definite winners for me - who knew a glowing complexion could be so simple to achieve?

These products retail at £9.99 each.

Thanks for reading, and I'd love to hear what you think down below! :)

    1. That's okay! :) I love Bourjois, and I'm desperate to try more of their stuff - I was first introduced by my mum years ago, she swore by one of their eyeshadows, which is sadly now discontinued!
Let me know how you get on with the foundation if you do try it! :) x

  15. Thank you so much for this review, Amy!! Although we do have Bourjois available in Canada, that doesn't mean we have the all same products...so I'm anxious to see if I can find the rice powder in a local store. It sounds like just the sort of "luminizing" product that I've been looking for!!

  25. Agreed! I had horrible acne during my college years & used makeup to distract from my blemishes. But, once I began to perfect my skin routine, I resorted to a more natural beauty routine! & I honestly feel like it is the way to go! I'm a big fan of illuminators & BB creams over foundation & concealer! Thanks for sharing Amy! Looking forward to your future posts ;D
